British fashion icon Alexander McQueen commits suicide

British fashion designer Alexander McQueen has been found dead after taking his own life. The 40-year-old committed suicide just three years after his close friend, Isabella Blow - who plucked him from obscurity and helped him become a star - killed herself. A source at McQueen’s office this afternoon confirmed his death, saying: ‘It is a tragic loss. We are not making a comment at this time out of respect for the McQueen family.’ His death comes just days before the start of London Fashion Week and weeks before he was due to unveil his new collection at Paris Fashion Week on March 9.

I'm in shock, it's hard to believe that we have lost one of the worlds greatest designers. He left us at the top of his career and he will be missed dearly. rip

Zip me up

Zippers were a major feature in a number of Spring/Summer Collections this year, Valentino and 3.1 Philip Lim for example. Whether used as embellishments or to actually seal a dress closed, a visible zipper is a sure way to add edge to an outfit. Personally, I have been craving one of the black blouses from the Philip Lim collection. The elegant wave of zippers is eye catching and could be paired with any pair of jeans to bring something a little more unique to the table. Unfortunately, this particular blouse costs well in excess of 400 dollars. So I went searching for a look-a-like. The first place I looked was Urban Outfitters, which is my go to place for anything unique. After about twenty minutes of searching through racks, I pulled out the perfect black tank top with zipper embellishments. Instead of those signature waves, the zippers have been delicately coiled to form little zipper swirls at the top of the shirt. For 20 dollars, it was absolutely love at first sight, complete with spotlight and chiming wedding bells. Perfectly paired with some shorts and a pair of sandals, I’m going to be wearing it all summer.
